Australian company Fluffy Spider Technologies (FST) today announced FancyPants now fully supports the Samsung SMDK2410 development board.
Although FancyPants runs multiple embedded devices, running a variety of embedded processors, including the ARM9, ARM11, x86 and XScale processors this is the first development board specifically targeted by FancyPants.
This support allows developers to take advantage of FancyPants advanced video, graphics and special effect code in a Limited Resource Device, without complex procedures. Additionally FancyPants FastRender enhancements are fully functional on the SMDK2410, allowing full screen video and CD quality audio at 25 frames per second. These features don't interfere with the ability to use FancyPants code on desktop computers (x86), or on other embedded devices.
Robi Karp, Managing Director of FST said:
"Formal support for the [SMDK2410] board allows developers to quickly experiment with a range of innovative and powerful applications. We have already seen a number of new applications that we had never considered, being built around FancyPants since we started testing on the board, and are looking forward to helping both our current and future clients in experiencing the power of FancyPants on the ARM processor.

FST FancyPants' intelligent skinning / theming capability allows the OEM to quickly provide applications that look unique and can offer a greater level of personalization for their customers. Mobile phones can be branded by the service provider, the OEM or as part of a marketing campaign.
With its emphasis on media, FST FancyPants currently supports the following A/V codecs:
"The special effects and video capabilities allow for a truly unique experience. Imagine a video playing in the background of an application with the buttons semi-transparent on the top. Or a video browser, with multiple videos playing and transparency between them".
FST FancyPants provides all these features in a tiny package. It is less than 3MB on disk.
"All OEMs are incredibly conscious about minimizing the footprint of software on devices. The small size of FancyPants makes it especially attractive said Karp.
FST FancyPants is currently available for Embedded Linux (including Qtopia support), WinCE and Symbian.
