FST develops online embedded controller for HPM's iCONTROL Home and Building Automation System

Sydney, 15 October 2004. Australian companies, HPM Technologies and Fluffy Spider Technologies, have developed an industry leading

Internet interface that provides the HPM iCONTROLTM home and building automation system with secure remote control access from anywhere in the world.

The HPM iPOINT offers a graphical user interface to remotely control and monitor functions over the internet. The benefits to users are enormous, allowing them to control and monitor lights, air conditioning, sub-floor heating and virtually any electrically powered appliance from anywhere in the world. iPOINT is an embedded Linux device designed to plug easily into the iCONTROL network where it can be viewed on a standard web browser. So, for example if you're on holiday in Auckland and suddenly realise you've left the air-conditioning on at home, you can connect from your nearest Internet cafe, check it and if necessary quickly switch it off. Equally efficient as a business management system in the office, HPM iPOINT provides an XML interface for the development of professional customised front-end graphic user interfaces.

Robi Karp, Managing Director of FST commented, "We especially enjoy working with HPM, as they continue to produce industry best products that lead the market, and this provides us with the opportunity to deliver innovative software solutions. The embedded solution we've developed with HPM is a good example of the leading technology that continues to be developed in Australia, by Australian companies," he said.

Mr Eduardo Yudowski, National Product Manager Electronics Product Group for HPM said , "We've worked very closely with FST in developing a product that directly meets market demands for remote access, control and monitoring applications.

Our goal in releasing iPOINT is to expand our product offering, adding value to our existing iCONTROL system. iPOINT uses a range of sophisticated techniques designed to simplify the configuration and installation process. It dynamically creates the browser screens based on the iCONTROL hardware installed in the building, reducing iPOINT installation time to a matter of minutes" Yudowski said.

"iPOINT is suitable for residential, commercial and industrial applications and can be used in large remote access systems that need to be monitored from one control centre. We are very excited about this new product that keeps us at the forefront of automation

technology in this country," Mr Yudowski said.
